Performance Management

CSUSB employees receive periodic written evaluations of their performance by their supervisor on forms provided by the Human Resources Department. CSUSB's Annual Review Process for permanent employees is on a July 1 - June 30 cycle. Permanent Staff Evaluations are due on the last working day of May and MPP Evaluations are due on the last working day of June of each year.

Management Personnel Plan (MPP)


Per the Management Personnel Plan dated January 1, 1984, employees in this Management Group shall be evaluated after six months and one year of service, and subsequently at one-year intervals during the Annual Review Process. Evaluations are due in the Human Resources Department on the last working day of June.

Confidential (C99)


Probationary Employees

  • In classifications of One-Year Probationary Period (Confidential Office Support & Confidential Technical Support) are evaluated by completion of their three, six and nine months of employment. Human Resources sends a monthly reminder to department when employees have a probationary evaluation due.

  • In classifications of Two-Year Probationary Period (Confidential Administrative) are evaluated by completion of their six, twelve and eighteen months of employment.

Permanent Confidential Employees are evaluated once a year as part of the CSUSB's Annual Review Process. Evaluations are due in Human Resources on the last working day of May. See CSU Systemwide Policy.

Some Bargaining Units require that the evaluator provide a draft evaluation for the employee's review, and the employee has a certain number of days to review the draft evaluation and provide input, if any, to the evaluator.

  • CSUEU (Units 2, 5, 7, & 9) allows employee five days for review of draft evaluation.
  • APC (Unit 4) allows employee fourteen days for review of draft evaluation.

Temporary Employees


All Temporary Employees (with exception of MPP, C99 & E99) are evaluated one time during their length of appointment. Temporary Evaluations are due a month prior to the end date of the appointment. Human Resources sends monthly memorandums to departments listing employees that have an evaluation due.
